Naturally Soothing Post-Shave-Salve
Razor Bumps: The All-Natural “Post-Shave-Save”, (haha) a Salve your skin will love!
Post-Shave-Salve – Save your skin this summer with our homemade Salve. Let’s face it, shaving isn’t always smooth sailing. Whether you’re grooming your legs, underarms, face, or even more sensitive areas (yes, those areas), there’s a common enemy we all dread: post-shave irritation. Redness, itchiness, razor burn or those annoying little bumps—ugh! But what if your skin could feel soft, soothed, and happy after every shave? Say hello to your skin’s new best friend: our all-natural Post-Shave-Salve!
Made with a creamy blend of shea butter, cocoa butter, beeswax, jojoba oil, lavender and tea tree oil. this Post Shave Save salve is like a big cozy hug for freshly shaved skin. Whether you’re a daily shaver, a once-a-week groomer, or someone who only shaves when absolutely necessary (we see you, winter legs 🙂 ). This salve is safe, effective and gentle enough for every body part—yes, even the intimate ones.
Why Post-Shave-Salve?
Let’s start with the basics: shaving, while effective for removing hair, can also remove some of your skin’s natural moisture and protective barriers. This leaves your skin vulnerable to dryness, inflammation and ingrown hairs. That’s where our salve steps in. Think of it as first aid for freshly shaved skin, with the added bonus of smelling absolutely divine and being totally natural.
Let’s break down the magic in the jar.
Shea Butter If your skin could talk, it would probably scream “Yes, please!” to shea butter. Rich in vitamins A and E, shea butter is famous for its moisturizing and healing properties. It deeply hydrates the skin and helps to reduce inflammation, which means fewer razor bumps and less redness.
Shea butter also promotes collagen production (we all love collagen production), which helps skin bounce back from the irritation shaving can cause. Plus, it feels luxuriously smooth when you apply it—like whipped cream for your skin.
Cocoa Butter doesn’t just smell delicious—it’s a natural buttery fatty acid that nourish and protect the skin. It forms a barrier on the skin that locks in moisture while allowing it to breathe. That means it helps prevent post-shave dryness and supports skin healing if you’ve had a close encounter with a razor blade (hello, accidental nicks).
Bonus: it helps fade scars and pigmentation over time. So, if you’re dealing with past shaving battles, cocoa butter can help restore peace to your skin.
Beeswax is more than just something bees make for candles (I mean their houses first right?). In skincare, it plays an important role as a natural emollient and barrier. It keeps moisture in, keeps bacteria out, and gives your salve a firm but silky texture. This means your skin stays hydrated and protected long after you’ve dried your skin.
It’s especially helpful in preventing ingrown hairs by keeping the skin supple and resistant to inflammation and bacteria.
Jojoba Oil helps unclog hair follicles, reduces inflammation and speeds up healing. It’s particularly good for sensitive areas and won’t clog pores—so it’s safe for your bikini line, underarms, face, and anywhere else you dare to shave.
Fun fact: jojoba oil isn’t actually an oil—it’s a wax ester, which mimics the skin’s natural sebum. That makes it incredibly effective at balancing your skin’s oil production, which is super important after shaving.
Lavender isn’t just for bedtime tea and sleep sprays. It’s a natural antiseptic and anti-inflammatory, which means it helps to calm down angry skin and prevent infection in tiny post-shave cuts.
The scent alone is enough to make you take a deep breath and say “ahhh,” but the real power of lavender lies in its skin-soothing magic. You’ll feel the irritation melt away almost instantly.
Tea Tree Oil is the real MVP when it comes to fighting off bacteria, reducing redness and preventing ingrown hairs. It’s a natural antimicrobial agent, so it helps keep those post-shave bumps at bay, especially in areas that are prone to sweating or friction.
It also helps clear clogged pores, which is a major cause of razor bumps. Don’t worry—it’s diluted in the salve to make it safe for even the most delicate skin.
Why This “Post-Shave-Save” Salve Works (Even There)
Let’s get (physical, physical) I mean personal. Shaving intimate areas requires special care, and this salve was made with that in mind. It’s:
- Fragrance-free (aside from the natural scent of the ingredients)
- Non-comedogenic (won’t clog pores)
- Gentle and safe for sensitive skin
- Free of synthetic chemicals, alcohol and preservatives
Whether you’re shaving your legs, bikini line, chest or anywhere else, this salve helps restore and protect the skin barrier while calming irritation AND without the sting. This is what we wanting right?
Post Shave Salve Ingredients
30g Shea butter
15g Cocoa butter
10g Beeswax
2 tbs Jojoba oil
5-10 drops Lavender oil
5-10 drops Tea Tree oil
Post-Shave-Salve Instructions
- Chop up your Shea butter, Cocoa butter and beeswax into small pieces for easy melting.
- Add them into a double boiler bowl and put on a medium heat
- Once they melted, let the bowl sit for a minute or two to cool
- Add the Jojoba, Lavender and Tea Tree oil and stir them in
- Whisk all the ingredients together on a medium speed, 3-5 minutes or until you are happy with a silky consistency (remember this is a salve, so it won’t become fluffy like whipped butter)
- Pour into a glass jar, this should make approx. 30mls
- This will harden in the jar, but should be soft enough to spoon out when you need it.
How to Use It
- Shave as usual, using a clean, sharp razor
- Pat your skin dry, but leave it slightly damp—it helps lock in moisture.
- Apply a small amount of the salve to the shaved area. Massage gently until absorbed. That’s it!
- Gentle enough to use a few (2-5) times a day, depending on your level of razor bumps.
- Don’t forget to exfoliate!
